British Veterans National Defence Medal (NDM) Campaign

How You Can Help

We encourage Veterans or Serving Members of the Armed Forces from every constituency in the country to contact their own MP, The Chief of Defence Staff, the Media or any official that will support or further the campaign to instigate the NDM.

Sadly the Minister for Veterans and the MOD (Mr R T Coney) send out a standard letter of refusal, so we don't think there is anything further to be gained by contacting them directly. Having said that we suggest when contacting your MP you urge Him/Her to contact Defence Ministers on your behalf.

Contact your MP or any Minister Direct using:      www.writetothem.com

You can also find a list of Lords here: www.iwantareferendum.com/peersbycounty.pdf

As most Peers do not have email addresses, the best way to contact them is by letter.  You should address yours to the name of the Lord at:

The House of Lords

London

SW1A 0PW

We have a template letter that can be supplied if anybody would prefer simply by emailing N-D-M@hotmail.co.uk and titling the email “National Defence Medal”, or download by clicking on Template, or an alternative letter Template B, and feel free to edit as you see fit.

For MPs & Senior Officials

We are looking for MPs to pro-actively support our campaign by forcefully raising this issue particularly with the MOD and your own Defence Team.

Donate to the Campaign Fund

Those kind enough to donate money to help finance the campaign can do so by making cheques payable to A/C Payee:  National Defence Medal Society

Send cheques to:                      NDMS, 17 Whitbred Road, Salisbury, SP2 9PE

Remember

To copy letters to your MP to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) with a compliments slip.
It is the CDS claim that there is insufficient support for a medal, this assumption is based on correspondence directed his way. It is the CDS that will normally make any submission to the HD Committee in due course.

Current CDS is Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup GCB AFC ADC DSc FRAeS FCMI RAF

Note: Volume of email may cause the Minister and CDS to revise their email addresses from time to time.  It is possible that Government ministers will refer to Mr Richard Coney in which case you will recieve the a standard letter.
